Soul Food Style Pork Neck Bones | I Heart Recipes

Hey y'all, it's Rosie from I Heart
Recipes.com, and in this video I'm going to show you how to make the best soul
food style pork neck bones. Of course, the exact measurements are on my blog, I
Heart Recipes.com, so head over there if you want to print out the recipe. So here
are my neck bones, I'm going to drizzle them with some vegetable oil and then
I'm going to drizzle them with some apple cider vinegar. Believe it or not,
that apple cider vinegar adds some flavor baby, so do not skip out on that! And then
we're going to sprinkle some kosher salt, followed by some freshly ground or
cracked black pepper. So once the pepper's on there, I'm going
to add some paprika. That paprika is going to add color, it's not really
necessary but I love paprika.

And I'm also going to add some onion powder and
garlic powder, okay. So that's not flour, it's onion powder and garlic powder. And
last but not least, I'm going to add some parsley flakes – and this is optional, I
just like parsley, that's my thing. If you don't want it, you don't have to use it,
but look how pretty it is! It's all nice and seasoned, you know how I do, okay.

I
suggest you do the same, season up dem neckbone right, okay! Now here is my crock
pot, I have a little bit of water – I did not have chicken broth, I'ma be honest with you. Chicken broth works better, but I didn't
have any on hand. So if you have chicken broth, use that instead of water. Now start
adding in your neck bones. And once it's all in there, we're going
to start sprinkling in some cornstarch. Now the cornstarch is going
to help all the juices from the neck bones while it cooks, it's going to thicken
it on up. Not thick like a gravy, but it's going to thicken it up enough, okay. So
give everything a nice stir or fold and now you're going to add in some onions.
Now you can chop up your onions a lot more fine than I did, but this works
for me. Then you want to give everything a nice stir. Our next step will be
setting our crock pot on high, and we're going to let these neck bones cook for
four hours, okay. And check periodically and give everything a nice turn.

Don't
forget to add the lid before, you know, walking away. So after four hours, this is
what it looks like. Now, I'ma be honest with y'all, neck bones is not one of those
pretty foods, okay. So don't think you're gonna have something beautiful come out
of this pot, but it is really delicious! I'm gonna be honest with you, really
delicious.

But it's not one of those pretty foods, okay. So let's just put our
neckbone's on top of some rice, and then I'm going to pour the broth
from the neck bones all over the neck bones. And I'm going to add a little more
color by sprinkling some parsley flakes, and you know what, I'm good to go!
All you need is some greens and some cornbread and you know what, you're in
business! Now again, the exact measurements for these neckbones as well as many of my
other recipes can be found on my blog, I Heart Recipes.com. Ao head over there
